The new era of camping is embodied by the lightweight, spacious, and simple to assemble inflatable tent, this is why we adore them because they blend convenience and comfort in a manner that standard poles frequently do not.

Furthermore, who wouldn’t desire a product that can be customized in any way to suit their preferences?

Surely not me and you, but what about the times of year when there are strong snowfall? In this article we will talk about why Inflatable tents are not good, how these tents would collapse, ice would accumulate, and causing people to now concentrate on fixing those issues time and time again instead of enjoying the moments.

I went from enjoying the opulent views and feeling comfortable to being extremely anxious and overstimulated in one video. And for this reason which I think they are not suitable for strong snowstorms at all.

Why inflatable tents are not good and what are they?

Let me start by explaining what type of tents are inflatable tents they are essentially air tents, which means that, they rely on air to take shape, in contrast to traditional tents that use steel poles to form a structure.

But they require an electronic pump or a hand pump, due to the fact that air beams need fairly high pressure to become stable and rigid.

Here is why they are user friendly

  • You can use one for more than simply camping, including festivals, weeding’s and large gatherings.
  • What I appreciate about them is that they are lovely and have aesthetically attractive designs.
  • They can accommodate to any budget and size.
  • I believe many are now settling for these because they require little ability to set up; you only need just one electric pump for a few minutes and you’re done with the set up.
  • They also seem comfortable and are easy to transport, though this is largely decided by the tent’s size.
  • There is no need for you take hours connecting and disconnecting poles.

The growing popularity of inflatable tents

Let’s assume you are about to go on your first ever camping adventure with your family for vacation and you have two options to choose from regarding where you will stay and how you want to experience the adventure as a whole.

Firstly a traditional set-up tent, which is a bit complicated to set-up and small inside, and option two being inflatable tents, which comes with a bigger interior, less complicated, aesthetically pleasing inside and outside, and easy to set up.

You will most likely choose the inflatable tent because the whole point of travelling is to experience rather than survive.

Additionally, they are highly water resistant during rainy seasons, so you can sit comfortably in them without worrying about any raindrops getting to you.

Even in bright weather, they can cover you so well that you won’t have to worry about getting burnt. Hence a large number of campers are purchasing them causing the popularity to rise.

Similarly to prioritizing comfort, feeling, and experience over bare survival, some people find that setting up a room is enjoyable and creative because it allows them to unwind. And yet the benefits fadeaway when its winter season here is why.

10 Reasons camping videos have revealed

Snow load collapse air tubes

Please keep in mind that the entire structure is supported by air tubes, which means that anything with weight on top of the roofing cannot be supported by the material long enough hence snow loads collapse air tube.

Cold temperatures reduce air pressure

When you view films, you can see that the tent is beginning to lose its structure and becomes unsteady and droopy on other sides as a result of air contracting due to ice buildup in the material.

Strong winds make them less stable

Why inflatable tents are not good is because creators begin clearing the snow buildup on top of the tent to prevent it from collapsing since wind and the effects of heavy ice could force it to collapse in one direction because it is no longer strong enough.

Sharp ice causes punchers

Now, an excessive amount of snow is beginning to build sharp ice, which could cause the tent to punch if it is directed straight to air beams.

This poses a concern during a snow crisis, when there might not be anyone to assist you or fixing it yourself could be difficult.

Ice build up affects everything

Weather fluctuations always have a negative effects on people, which is why majority of content creators do not depend on only tent stove that burns black wood to keep themselves warm but also rely on Kerosene heaters.

If not, it gets impossible to function with a frozen body, not to mention that snow piles up, obscuring elements like inflation points, windows and doors.

Poor long-term durability

According to the appearance of things, inflatable tents end up being a negative experience in really cold weather conditions, to the point that the fabric’s durability becomes compromised.

This is why I’ve seen some creators such as Karin Camp use an air blower to remove some ice from the tent, as it makes it brittle.

Snow buildup needs ongoing Care

I had no idea that snow accumulated so quickly until I observed the sides of a tent nearly completely covered in snow, making it difficult to go in and out of the tent and required removal every two seconds.

Failure can occur without warning

Prove of why inflatable tents are not good is when , the Ramble Soul family, suffered a horrible inflatable tent failure when the structure unexpectedly collapsed on them, trapping them inside.

A need for strong emergency tools

Shovels, hot air blowers, and heaters are all necessary for staying warm and surviving a snowfall. This is not all, but some of the emergency tools you may require to survive.

Health implications

Despite the creators’ best attempts to keep the tent warm, they nevertheless express signs of being cold and freezing since they have to deal with ongoing issues related to surviving a storm within a fragile fabric structure, which is one of the variables that are not at all documented.

 Alternatives for snowstorm adventure

  • Although it’s not the ideal option, car camping or caravan camping can be a better option.
  • Camping using a conventional tent setup like House Trailers or Modular home trailers.
  • Camping at a resort with essentials and a sturdy structure.
  • Camping in a tree house.

According to what I’ve seen from other camping content providers, when it comes to nature and different seasons, there isn’t a better or more suitable option for your experience and adventure.

As you cannot control nature and considering the fact that it requires a large amount of equipment to constantly clean snow, which can either pile quickly and block the structure of the tent, or prevent you from entering doors and existing as you leave.

However, with car camping, you can be confident that you will not wake up to a structure threatening to collapse on top of you, although other extreme snowstorms may make it difficult to move your vehicle and use the road as you see fit.

And resort camping is a more relaxed style of camping that might be costly to rent at times.

In conclusion, inflatable tents have shown themselves to be practical in terms of speed and aesthetic appeal; they are a less complicated method of organizing and preparing an excursion.

They are designed to function well in mild winter weather conditions.

Please keep in mind to experience nature in an adventurous way without sacrificing your health and wellbeing. In the end, most designers spend more time creating realistic structures and solving issues than they do having fun.
